Do I need a special licence to drive a buzz buggy?
European Law requires all NON European driving licenses to be accompanied by an international driving permit (IDP).
You can easily get an IDP in your home country—the process is usually quick and straightforward, and in many countries it’s also available online.
We are allowed to rent you the vehicle with your national driving licence, but if you get stopped by the authorities you may be opened to a fairly large fine for not having an IDP
Is Buzz allowed on BUS LANES?
No. Driving in bus lanes is not permitted. If you do so, the fine is €95, plus €20 we charge to manage the fine.
How can I recognize a Bus Lane?
Bus lanes are easy to spot once you know what to look for! They are usually marked with:
- The word BUS painted clearly on the road
- A continuous yellow or white line separating the lane
If you see these markings, it means the lane is reserved for buses, taxis, and emergency vehicles!
What is a ZTL area and can the Buzz buggy enter it?
ZTL stands for Zona a Traffico Limitato — “Zone Traffic Limited”. These are areas in Rome where access is normally limited to authorised vehicles.
The good news? Our electric buggies can access all ZTL areas in the City! And because they are electric,— in these areas and everywhere else in the city – you don’t pay for parking either! Parking is free throughout Rome.
How late may I return buzz buggies?
You can return your Buzz at any time, even when our office is closed. The after-hours drop-off is very simple, and we explain it clearly during check-in.
Everything is organised to guarantee a safe and smooth return, even late at night — so you can enjoy Rome at night without worrying about drop-off times.
Where can I park the buzz buggy?
You can park along any continuous blue or white line — both are free because the Buzz is an electric vehicle.
You are also allowed to park perpendicular to the kerb, as long as the vehicle stays fully within the marked lines.
And remember: common sense works quite well in Rome. Usually if you are not of obstruction you are not fined! In fact, we have had only 8 parking fines in nearly as many years of running the business (14+ years!)
How long do the batteries last?
Battery life depends more on distance than on time. On average, a fully charged Buzz has a range of about 80 km.
This can vary depending on:
- Weight/load
- Terrain (hills use more power)
- Driving style (smooth driving = longer range)
The pre-set tours on our iPads are around 23 km, so you’ll have plenty of extra range — even enough to get a little lost along the way… which is part of the fun!
Is there a load limit to use the Buzz buggies?
The combined weight of both passengers must not exceed 180 kg (or 400 lb). This ensures safe handling and optimal performance of the Buzz.
What happens if we exceed the weight limit?
If your combined weight is over the 180 kg / 400 lb limit, you would need to rent two buggies for safety reasons. Discounts may apply during the low season.
Is there a height limit for the Buzz?
Anything over 6’4″ (193 cm) might feel a bit uncomfortable inside the Buzz. However, you’ll be getting in and out frequently during the experience, which usually makes it perfectly manageable.
Can we leave the iPad inside the buggy?
You can, but it’s very unlikely you’ll find it there when you return 😊 If it goes missing, you would be responsible for the replacement cost of €490.
Should we lock the doors when we park the buggy?
In winter, the buggies have doors. Please take the keys and your belongings with you and close the doors without locking them — the locks are delicate, and you could easily lock yourselves out!
What is the minimum age to drive the Buzz?
The minimum age is 21 with a valid driving licence.
However, if you are traveling with your parents or adult guardians, you may drive the Buzz from 18 years old, as long as you hold a valid licence!
How many people can the Buzz take?
The Buzz is strictly for 2 people only. Please note that child seats are not provided, so it is not suitable for children who require one.
Do you take a security deposit on the rental?
No deposit is taken.
We simply register your credit or debit card details in our secure system, as required by insurance in case of traffic fines or accidental damage.
What happens if we get a fine?
In the unlikely event that you receive a fine, don’t worry — the process is simple and it’s fully managed by us!
Fines are linked to the vehicle, and the vehicle is linked to the driver’s details provided at check-in. This means the fine is sent directly to our office. Once we receive it, we:
- Scan the fine
- Email it to you, including all the official details
- As per the relevant clause in your contract, we will process the payment using the card details you provided at check-in
- Add a €20 administration fee for handling the fine
You’ll receive full documentation, and everything is taken care of smoothly and transparently
What about insurance?
You are fully covered for third-party damages. In case of theft, you are liable for 20% of the vehicle’s value, based on Eurotax quotations. This keeps you protected while ensuring clear and transparent responsibility!
We don’t know where to go… can you suggest an itinerary?
- If you rent a Buzz buggy, you’ll receive an iPad with preloaded routes you can follow easily.
- If you rent a Vespa, we give you access to our Google Maps itineraries, designed specifically for scooters.
By train from Civitavecchia
You may easily catch a train from Civitavecchia’s main railway station (Stazione Centrale) to Roma San Pietro.
The direct train takes around 40 minutes, while other services with additional stops take closer to an hour, so both options are perfectly normal.
Once you arrive, our office is just a 10-minute walk away.
If you’d rather skip the walk and dive straight into your adventure, you can also have your Buzz/Vespa delivered directly to the station for €12.00 — a small extra that often saves precious time and gets you moving instantly.

From Rome's Central Areas (by Metro)
Get off at Ottaviano and take the exit toward Via Ottaviano / Vatican City.
Walk straight along Via Ottaviano until you reach Piazza del Risorgimento.
Cross the square and enter Borgo Sant’Angelo.
Take the fourth street on the right, Via degli Ombrellari, and continue straight to Vicolo d’Orfeo 8.
The walk takes about 7 minutes.
We know it may sound a little tricky but in fact it’s very easy – more of a “pleasant stroll” than a “mission impossible”
From Rome's Central Areas (by taxi)
A taxi ride to us from central areas should not cost more than around €10/12 (it is useful to tell the driver that Vicolo D’Orfeo is near the Vatican and “Borgo Pio”).
Delivery Service
A delivery and Pick-up service is available for central areas only at the extra return cost of €20.00 per Buzz or Vespa or at €25.00 either way.
NB: If you are renting more than one vehicle, it will be cheaper to get a taxi and come to us!
